In recognition of Shark Week I have returned to some clips of Thresher sharks I shot the last time I was in the Philippines. Every time I share photos of the sharks I've met it is with hope I will inspire understanding and compassion. These are not indiscriminate killers the media have conditioned us to believe they are. They need our protection. Sharks have been on our planet for over 400 million years, they are a vital part of a functioning ecosystem, and now many species are endangered as a consequence of human greed - as unintentional bycatch in fishermen's nets and slaughtered for their fins. We can do better.
